Wed 20 Mar - Frieze Academy presents Agents of Provocation at Miranda.

This four-part series of talks looks at the process of conceiving and constructing large-scale exhibitions via the opinions of some of the most influential curators, historians, producers and designers.

The latest in the series examines what art and the gallery space can do for activism. Due to the unstable political climate, recent years have seen something of a revitalisation of political protests, marches and activism. Where activism is resurfacing with force, to what extent can exhibitions light the touch-paper of social change? How and where does counter culture infiltrate mainstream thinking? And which exhibitions have truly ignited a positive political and social change? This talk reviews exhibitions that explore counter-cultural undercurrents, probing below the mainstream gaze to examine the maverick movements, rebels and iconoclasts that engage, challenge and create change.
